GlucoGuard ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.

1. Information We Collect

Health Data (via Apple HealthKit):

  • Blood glucose readings
  • Step count
  • Sleep analysis data
  • Heart rate data

Data You Enter:

  • Meal entries and food items
  • Medication information
  • Profile information (age, weight, height)
  • Notes and preferences

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Display your glucose readings, trends, and statistics
  • Provide personalized AI coaching and insights
  • Track your 12-week action plan progress
  • Calculate nutritional information for meals
  • Generate reports for your healthcare provider

3. Data Storage & Security

Your health data stays on your device. GlucoGuard stores all data locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not upload your glucose readings, meal data, medication information, or health metrics to any external server or cloud service.

In compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines (Guideline 5.1.3), health data obtained from HealthKit is never stored in iCloud or any cloud-based storage.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal health data to any third party.

The only external service the app may connect to is the USDA FoodData Central API for nutritional information lookup. This connection sends only food search queries (e.g., "chicken breast") — no personal or health data is transmitted.

5. Apple HealthKit

GlucoGuard requests permission to read and write health data through Apple HealthKit. You control exactly which data types the app can access through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > GlucoGuard. You can revoke access at any time.

Per Apple's requirements:

  • HealthKit data is never used for advertising
  • HealthKit data is never sold to data brokers
  • HealthKit data is never stored in iCloud

6. Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information. All billing is managed through your Apple ID.

7. Analytics & Advertising

GlucoGuard does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels. We do not track your behavior or create advertising profiles.

8. Children's Privacy

GlucoGuard is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from Settings > Delete All Data within the app. This permanently removes all locally stored data. Data written to Apple Health remains in the Health app and can be managed through iOS Settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
